Paul A. Stewart is the Managing Director of PASCO Ventures LLC, a firm that he founded to help a select group of clients in the USA – and around the world – with deal strategy, negotiations and completion. 

Stewart retired from Eli Lilly and Company (Lilly) in October 2012; for over 20 years of his 25-year career at Lilly, Paul served in various deal leadership roles including: crop protection (agrichemicals); medical devices / vascular intervention (cardiology and urology); drug infusion (hospital intravenous pumps, plus vital signs measurement products); corporate mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; and in the $2B+ Elanco Animal Health division (animal health & human food safety). Other portions of Stewart’s career at Lilly included work in sales, sales management, sales training and market research; he also served as the International MBA Recruiting Point Captain for Lilly at Harvard Business School for over 15 years leading up to his retirement. 

Stewart has done deals on all continents except Antarctica; he has been in 32 countries outside the USA and in 51 of the 52 U.S. states and territories. There are over a dozen publicly-disclosed in-development or marketed human pharmaceuticals, medical devices and animal health products that exist today as a result of deals Stewart has done; that does not count a number of still-undisclosed new products that will be launched over the next few years. 

Stewart currently serves as Immediate Past President & Chair of the Board of Governors of the Certified Licensing Professionals organization; is a director of The Patachou Foundation in Indianapolis, Indiana; and is a distinguished lecturer for the Graduate Program of International Pharmaceutical Engineering Management (IPEM) at Peking University in Beijing, China. He is an elder at Second Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis, and has served as Lay Director and five times a Spiritual Director of Great Banquet men’s retreats there; has served on the Advisory Board of DePauw University’s Management Fellows Program (2007-2013); as a director of the Indianapolis Legal Aid Society (from 2004-2010); has served as president of the Board of Airport Commissioners for Greensburg-Decatur County (Indiana) (1980-81 and 1983) and president of the Indiana Seed Trade Association (1984); as chairman of the IVAC (1993) and Elanco (1999 and 2007) United Way campaigns; and as a member of the Board of Directors and Trusteeship (executive) Committee of Park Tudor School in Indianapolis (from 1997-2003) and the Board of Directors of the Harvard Business School Alumni Association (from 1999-2003). 

Stewart is a Certified Licensing Professional, is listed in “Who’s Who in America,” “Who’s Who in the World” and “Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare,” and is the author of “A Harvard MBA’s Advice to His Sons” (ISBN 1594539952). 

Stewart received a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural business management in 1976 from Purdue University, and a master of business administration degree from Harvard University School of Business in 1987; between Purdue and Harvard, Stewart was an executive at Stewart Seeds, Inc. (now owned by Monsanto), the family farming and agricultural seed business in which he was raised. Stewart and his wife Susan reside in Indianapolis, Indiana; they are the parents of two grown sons.
